In the land of Dev Bhoomi, Part 6

In the land of Dev Bhoomi, Part 6

Our Road back to civilization!
It was now time where we started our journey back to civilization, this  journey was from Sonprayag to Badrinath, all of us were terribly exhausted with the amount of travel we had done, also we were stuck in a traffic jam for almost an hour, the moment we entered our vehicle we took off our shoes and were fast asleep, except for the person sitting beside the driver. After Almost 1hr, we got up, as we had to load our luggage on the carrier and then we came to know we were just around the corner of the same place where we started our travel from, this is when we found out our vehicle was moving literally in inches.

All of our patience was tested throughout the journey, when you know you cannot do anything of what is happening in front of you is when one learns to stay calm and quiet, because this was just a start of the day and our journey, if we would have been frustrated at the start we wouldn't have been able to enjoy the journey we were in. Travel has taught me many things in life and one of them is 'Patience'.

We sang songs, and exchanged our knowledge, thanks to Sachin and Pratik for sharing stories of Lord Shiva of the places we were visiting in our yatra, it is said when you are in yatra talk about the holy scripts or chant mantras we were trying to follow some of those things, Enroute had delicious food at Ukhimath.

Enroute Chopta

There were 2 routes to Badrinath we chose Chopta route via Ukhimath, it was quite cold outside and amazing road with beautiful scenery. Around 6 pm we took a short tea break at Pipalkoti, there we met a group who came down from Badrinath and they said they took 6 hrs to reach Pipalkoti and we were like maybe by maximum 12 we would reach Badrinath and without wasting much time started travelling. There were few showers in between and within half an hour we were once again stuck in the jam, the driver said we won't be able to reach by even 12. The frustrating part was you don't know the exact reason for jam,  was it because roads are narrow?? Is it because there are petrol pumps inbetween?? people from Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan driving insanely? parking sense of people visiting??  No clue and no management, traffic police were only seen in the main cities. Many travellers park their car wherever they feel like and then go to look out for hotels or rooms nearby or they sleep in the car for the night.

It was midnight and were still at Joshimath, we asked our driver if he can still drive and he said he can, Pratik kept talking to the driver for the next 2 hours till we reached our destination around 2 am. 17km of walk and 16hrs of travel, After all of this what would a person do if he finds a cozy bed in front of him, that is what we did. We collapsed!

Not street lights but vehicle lights stuck in a jam

I personally believe in the energy flowing around us, I may not have out of the box experiences in this spiritual journey but definitely every small experience does count, like we fell sick only at our rest place and not while travelling, safe drive throughout our tour special thanks to our experienced driver Babu Ram, no landslides on the road, even while travelling at night we felt safe, positive people in our team, every little thing counted and I feel gratitude towards the energy behind us which was constantly being sensed.

Travel with an open mind, a little bit of adjustment, lots of patience and with a positive attitude. You surely will never regret and always come back with lots of memories and stories.

The last part of the trip is yet to come so stay tuned and enjoy reading.
