In the land of Dev Bhoomi, Part 2

In the land of Dev Bhoomi, Part 2

This was a road trip cum hike and that too for 9 days, through the ghats in the North. Was quite a task if you'd ask me as I had never combined both at once.
So after getting back to Jankichatti from Yamunotri temple, we packed our bags got into our car and moved on to our next destination ' Gangotri' enroute stay in Uttarkashi.

Visited Prachin Prakateshwar Panchanan Mahadev Mandir enroute to Uttarkashi. Natural lotus shaped petals are formed in the cave of Mahadev Mandir.

It was Day3, we started our journey towards Gangotri which is 100km from Uttarkashi, at first we thought that it would take like 3 Hours but it took a good 5 backbreaking hours to reach. Gangotri temple is at 10 minutes walk from the Parking Lot.
We had a planned trek to Gomukh but due to miscommunication and reaching late we ended up cancelling that plan. But from that day till the time we reached home Sachin, chanted 'Jo hota hai acche ke liye hota hai aur jo hoga acche ke liye hoga' and yes indeed every word of the saying came true before my own eyes.

Gangotri Temple
Gangotri Dham, located at the height of 3,100mts.Ganga Maa the much-revered deity of Hindus, originates from the Gangotri glacier at Gaumukh which is some 18 km from the Gangotri town. It is said that Goddess Ganga came to earth in order to wash away the sins of King Bhagirathi's ancestors. From the folds of mythology until the present time, Ganga River has always been a sacred source of purity for mankind.

On our way to check post

We went up to the check post wherein you get an entry to the forest of Gangotri, clicked few pictures of the glacier and came back, by this time the queue for darshan had reduced, we took Darshan of Maa Ganga and were searching for accommodation nearby, someone  recommended to go to Pandu Cave which was a good nature trail of 1.5 km from Gangotri temple so while searching our accommodation we met a Sanyasi, while chatting with him we got to know he was from Maharashtra and Karnataka border, We all do get attached when someone from our hometown meets us when we are a thousand miles away from our home. He was from a well-educated family and was in Gangotri since past 15years, he left behind everything and was on his spiritual journey. He took us around to the nearby places where we spent little time asking him about life.

It was going to be dark within an hour and we still had to explore the cave so we hurried up and started on our trail to the Pandu Caves.

                                     Into the forest

Tall trees, evergreen pastures, an echo of river Ganga flowing and most importantly peace. I loved that evening, we explored and were back and looked for a room, luckily we found one in the government rest house. Freshened up and went to have our dinner followed by Garma Garam candlelight jalebi and some time gazing at the gigantic flow of Maa Ganga.

We were back to our rooms, all set for the next day.
After 30 mins, I was going through a terrible pain in my stomach. I waited patiently for another half hour hoping it will subside but it didn't work, I puked, with my tummy upset and by now I knew its a bit serious thus I took my medicine which I was already carrying. I had it and tried sleeping, it was one of the horrible night ever on the trip.
I prayed I did not want to spoil my journey, I knew I had to travel for next 6 days my prayers were heard and it was just like magic though I was a little weak but I was all okay by next morning. I remembered the saying of what happens, happens for good reason, what if I was in glacier and I was sick so always believe and never get disappointed even if things don't go the way it is planned.

The rest went to attend Ganga Arti while I took some rest in the hotel room and then we left to our further journey back to Uttarkashi.
